3.1. Sex

At birth—or even before—doctors determine whether you are a boy or a girl based on your sex characteristics (genitalia, chromosomes, hormones). 

Some people are born with variations in their sex characteristics. We call them intersex persons. “They do not entirely fit the norms established by the medical community and/or socio-cultural perceptions where the child is born”.
